Bentonite Geosynthetic Clay Liners Has a Better Waterproof Effect
Bentonite geosynthetic clay liners of Yingfan are usually composed of three layers. The upper and lower layers are respectively nonwoven geotextile and woven geotextile which are mainly used for protection and reinforcement and having a certain overall anti-puncture strength and tensile strength;
The middle layer is a sodium-based bentonite granular layer which has high expansibility, high water absorption capacity, low water permeability when it meets the water or moisture. Sodium bentonite granular layer mainly plays a role of anti-seepage for this geocomposite product.
The mineralogical name of bentonite is montmorillonite, and natural bentonite is mainly divided into sodium and calcium based on chemical composition. Bentonite has the property of swelling with water. Generally, when calcium-based bentonite swells, its expansion volume is only about 3 times than its own volume; while sodium-based bentonite swells, it is about 15 times than its own volume and can absorb 6 times its own weight.
Water, the high-density colloid formed by such swelling bentonite has the property of repelling water. Taking advantage of this property of repelling water or moisture by swelling bentonite, sodium-based bentonite is usually used as an erosion control material.
Bentonite geosynthetic clay liners are suitable for anti-leakage engineering of reservoirs, canals, etc., as well as waterproof work during house construction and railway/subway/highway construction.This product is also applied in desert management, environmental transformation, landfills, artificial lakes, artificial landscapes, etc.
